Hearing on Business and Human Rights in the EU external policies in the European Parliament

The European Parliament will host a joint hearing on ‘Business and human rights in EU External Policies: due diligence, non-financial reporting and access to remedies’ tomorrow 3 May.

The activity has been co-organised by the Subcommittee on Human Rights and the Committee on International Trade of the Parliament. It has the purpose of boosting the debate around the challenges presented by the adoption of EU free trade agreements over human rights respect and protection in third countries.

The hearing will participated by members of civil society and experts, and will be organised around three thematic panels:

– Corporate Social Responsibility and global value chains,

– The implementation of the UN Guiding Principles on Business and Human Rights and access to remedies,

– The UN intergovernmental working group on a legally binding instrument on transnational corporations.

The hearing agenda and the presentations by guest speakers can be consulted here.
