Dutch Child Labour Due Diligence Law

Dutch Child Labour Due Diligence Law

On the 7th of February, the Dutch Parliament passed the Dutch Child Labour Due Diligence Law, which will entry into force on January, 1, 2020.

This law requires Dutch and Foreign companies that deliver their products or services to the Dutch market at least twice a year, to submit a single statement declaring that they have carried out due diligence to identify and prevent child labour in their full supply chain.

The exact content of this statement is to be defined but, contrary to the French “Devoir du Vigilance” law and the UK Modern Slavery Act, in the Dutch case, this statement has a long-term validity.

The Business and Human Rights Resource Centre has published a list of FAQs drafted by the organization “Mvoplatform”, that can be accessed here.
